Automobiles in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior representative stated the incident made him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
